[About]
Cave Painting was inspired by the cultures who used to make their marks upon cave walls by using their hands and fingers. This is the second painting I painted using my hands, excluding the texture of the stone cave wall, which was produced from stippling with a sea sponge.Â
I felt as if it is a shame that there is no evidence really as to what the stories of these people were as in there is proof upon these earthen walls of stories, of cultures, and of peoples, but translations of these stories are mostly guesses. We actually don't know their languages or what they looked like.
Within this piece, I still tried to tell a story based on both the real cave wall paintings and people, while also incorporating my own twist: many hidden images overlapping each other (which did happen sometimes), variations in color to depict surface and some pigments used, and my own style of what some symbols such as 'man' and 'birds' look like.
