Pears was fashioned with the light spectrum in mind; or, rather, the color spectrum. As seen above, the highlights on varying surfaces are not purely white. When studying or observing the effects light has, one will start to see the reds and blues or cool and warm tones. Those highlights were the "highlight" of this piece.
