[About]

Past Image is an experimental nod to the past of Tiffany's ancestry. Having used clogging, a form of dance to first mark up the paper, Tiffany later went back into make the figure from these marks.

"There is a lot to be said about this piece from the way the marks were made with my feet, to the marks of history, to later on when more marks were made as I went back into it after dancing. For one, many tribes danced. I thought of this, and decided to do my own dancing that I actually participated in in high school. Secondly, I consider this piece sad because many Natives were forced to stop dancing particular dances of theirs', while also being silenced (as depicted by what look like shoelace lines covering the general mouth area). Third, the rough aged look of the marks only further tells the story of history, stamped, walked, and beat whether by feet or not."
